‘Big Man’ Clarence Clemons remembered in Asbury Park, NJ, shore town where he and Bruce ruled

Scores of fans gathered Sunday at a legendary rock club to mourn the death and celebrate the life and music of saxophonist Clarence Clemons.

The Stone Pony in Asbury Park was the place where Clemons, Bruce Springsteen and other E Street band mates got their musical starts. It opened its doors to a crowd of about 150 people, many adorned in Springsteen T-shirts.

A makeshift vigil was created at the club late Saturday as word spread of Clemons’ death from complications of a stroke he had suffered about a week earlier at his home in Singer Island, Fla. By Sunday afternoon, the stage was adorned with Clemons photos.

Fans were lining up to snap pictures and leave flowers to honor Clemons. He was known as the Big Man, a nod to his physical size, stage presence and booming sax notes.

Within hours of Clemons’ death on Saturday night, fans slowly began stopping by the club, which was hosting an unrelated act catering to a younger crowd. Flowers, a candle and a handwritten sign saying “RIP Big Man” soon sprouted outside the building, and more items were added throughout the night and on Sunday.

I will always remember this…

I love how the next part is called “Mushroom Trail”.

Apparently we took a wrong turn and ended up at the popular mountain bike trail known as Severed Dick.

Gotta love the name, no?

After correcting ourselves, we entered the worst part of the hike – downhill rocky terrain.

It was pretty horrible; my poor bum kissed those rocks once.

Finally, time for miso soup and yakisoba!  Nom nom nom…

The day ended with me laying on my bed and reading about X-Men on Wikipedia Mobile.

It’s a day later and my body is absolutely killing me.

What does this mean? It means I am really out of shape. Ha!

I am a huge fan of Stieg Larsson’s Millennium trilogy. I read the books then saw all three films in Swedish.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is definitely my favourite out of all three.

Danish director, Niels Arden Oplev, did a splendid job capturing the essence of the book and Noomi Rapace was freaking amazing as Lisbeth Salander.

I really hate the idea of remakes, especially when the original is so well done. But then again, this is Hollywood we are talking about; it just has the need to “Americanize” everything. *roll eyes*

Oh well, I will keep an open mind when the movie comes out. Hopefully it will be at least half as good as the original film.
